The building rises over a bridge, a few minutes walking from the Rialto bridge. Originally, Venice had only three main bridges. The main mean of transportation for all the movings from one side of the canal to the other one was the boat. Then, when the others bridges were built, they were adjusted to the shape of the lanes. That is the reason why you can still see today a lot of them are transversal or crooked.
