One of the oldest hotels in Italy, dating back to the 13th century when the Doges of Venice would stop on their way to hunt boar on the Lido. It was renovated in the 1870s. Here, in between the two world wars, the Marchesa Casati and the Duke of Abruzzi held court for the intellighentsia. Richard Strauss and Sir Winston Churchill slept here.
